Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction, alternate history, and speculative fiction.  There are 3 words that best describe Steampunk Victorian Science Fiction. Victorian here is used to represent the industrialized 19th century. Steampunk evolved in the 19th century and is becoming famous through Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. It wasn’t until the 80’s when officially the name “steampunk” came about through author K.W. Jeter who used it jokingly when talking about a group of stories set in the Victorian period written during a time when near-future cyberpunk was the prevailing form of science fiction.  If you are craving more knowledge or answers I suggest checking out Steampunk 101.

Steampunk has been seen in many movies over the years some of the more popular ones are:

Sherlock Holmes: Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law The Golden Compass: Nicole Kidman & Kathy Bates

Prestige: Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman                                    Wild Wild West: Will Smith and Kevin Kline

Hellboy: Ron Perlman, Selma Blair            Sleepy Hollow: Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci
